  • Quite simply, this is the course you need to acquire your Queensland Recreational Marine Driver’s Licence - RMDL (Boat Licence) to master/skipper a recreational power boat with a motor of 6HP or greater. As a Captain comes responsibility!

  • The boat licence course incorporates:

  • - online video theory learning and online theory assessment
  • - a final multiple choice theory assessment (50 questions)
  • - practical training and assessment on the training vessel
  • You must successfully complete all tasks on the vessel and pass the theory exam at 100% to be deemed competent. Let's face it... you don't want your aeroplane pilot passing his exams at say 70%! But don’t panic, our skilled instructors/trainers are here to support you in developing the required competence levels to pass your assessments.

  • COURSE CONTENT
  • You will learn and be competent in:
  • Planning your trip
  • Understanding marine safety, legal obligations and seaworthiness

  • Man overboard drill
  • Safely approach a floating object

  • You have passed!... What's next?
  • On successful completion of the boat and or jet ski licence course, you’ll receive a Statement of Competency (SoC). This is an official assessment document verifying that you have passed all the necessary theory and practical assessments.

  • To acquire your Recreational Marine Driver Licence, you must present your SoC at a Transport and Motoring Service Centre within 3 months of issue along with the application form and prescribed fee and at that time a photo license will be issued or your driver licensed will be amended to reflect your Recreational boat license.
